Haafiza; A Memory
Haafiza was the first project I undertook holistically, leading the design team and overseeing every stage of development. Rooted in the rich craft of Bagru block printing, Haafiza is an ode to the imprints of time—both on fabric and in memory. Inspired by the palaces of Jaipur, this project celebrates the beauty of hand-blocked textiles, where each print carries the weight of tradition, storytelling, and craftsmanship passed down through generations.
Each garment tells a story through natural dyes, earthy hues, and aged textures, evoking the beauty of recollection. The imperfections, the repetition, the human touch—these are what make the craft alive, carrying whispers of tradition into the present.
Through Haafiza, I honor the past while shaping a future where heritage and design coexist seamlessly.

Project USTTAD; 4
The final chapter of Project USTTAD, backed by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and Textiles, India, paid homage to the Bhopali Batua and the Nawab Begums of Bhopal, who pioneered this timeless craft.
In this phase, a diverse range of ethnic bags and chokers, embracing a traditional color palette, luxurious silks, and brocades sourced from Banarasi merchants was designed and developed. Brass accents added a regal touch, elevating each piece with an air of opulence.
This chapter was more than just a design endeavor—it was a tribute to heritage, a celebration of artisanal mastery, and a commitment to preserving a craft that has stood the test of time.

Project USTTAD; 3
Reviving the Bhopali Batua
Project USTTAD Chapter 3 aimed to preserve the fading craft of Bhopali Batua—exquisite drawstring bags adorned with intricate zardozi embroidery, once cherished by the Nawab Begums of Bhopal. Expanding beyond batuas, we introduced a collection of slippers, bag straps, jewelry, and clutch bags, blending heritage with modern elegance.
Inspired by Bhopal’s Beauty
During our time in Bhopal, the city’s charm, especially its peacocks, deeply inspired us. Their striking eyes and vibrant feathers influenced our embroidery motifs, weaving nature into tradition.
Impact & Legacy
The collection was warmly received, celebrating artistry while empowering artisans. It was a privilege to contribute to the revival of this craft, ensuring its legacy lives on.

Musafir; Journeying Through Liminal Space
Musafir is a deeply personal exploration of transition, identity, and cultural integration. This two-part project reflects my own journey of navigating between spaces—both physical and emotional—as I moved between cultures.
Part 1: Artifacts – Stages of Gradual Integration
In this segment, I created three artifacts representing the three stages of cultural assimilation:
Emergence – Silk whispers of home, adorned with hand embroidered Chikankari’s tender touch. Pleats unfurl the layers of my heritage, deep and unshaken.
Confluence – Lace-like cuts and creeping threads weave my story—roots reaching, identity shifting, a quiet merging of past and present.
Entwinement – Pleats reverse, cultures entwine. Inked in tradition, sculpted in modernity—a tapestry of two lands, folded into one.
Each piece combines traditional Indian embroidery with Nottingham lacework, bringing together heritage and modernity. I used laser-cutting, pleating, and embroidery techniques to symbolize the layering of experiences.
The fabric pleating setup, which I personally explored and executed, adds depth and dimension, mirroring the complexities of cultural transformation.

Musafir; Journeying Through Liminal Space
Part 2: Liminal Space Installation
For the installation, I translated my experience into a physical space—a 10-foot organza fabric, representing the 10 months I spent in Nottingham. Using white, gold, and silver embroidery, I traced my journey:
Gold threads symbolize my Indian heritage.
Silver threads reflect my evolving connection to Nottingham.
White contour lines capture the liminality of transition.
The CAD embroidery layering, carefully arranged by me, enhances the movement and texture of the piece, signifying the fluid and evolving nature of identity.
Musafir is a reflection of my own story—of belonging, change, and the beauty found in the spaces in between.

unpolished, unfiltered, unapologetically me!
